The FDA, Food & Drug Administration, is suggesting that the public avoid eating foods containing pistachios. There have been calls to the FDA with complaints of illness, but these as of this moment remain unconfirmed, and unproven as having anything to do with pistachios. The FDA says there is a potential risk of salmonella poisoning.

Officer Robert Powell, traffic cop, was sitting in the dark, waiting for something to happen. NFL running back Ryan Moats, his wife, an aunt, and Moats’ dying mother-in-law’s father, were in an SUV. They were trying to get to the hospital, because they were told they had better get there if they wanted to say [...]
American Idol: Ryan Seacrest bores and offends.
Posted in Pop Culture, TV & Film, news, rant, tagged American Idol, Ryan Seacrest on March 26, 2009 | Leave a Comment »
Does Ryan Seacrest just not know when to shut up? I remember the season opener for Idol. He tried high-fiving Scott, who he knew was blind. Wednesday, he tried describing things to Scott, seemingly unable to mouth the common word ‘crayon’, and then asking the blind man how he knew he was wearing pink pants. [...]
Incompetence in Journalism: Christopher Wanjek of LiveScience.com
Posted in Pop Culture, TV & Film, news, rant, tagged Christopher Wanjek, LiveScience on March 25, 2009 | 2 Comments »
LiveScience’s “Bad Medicine Columnist”, Christopher Wanjek, began to write about a news report that he concluded was sloppy and unprofessional. The news report in question, was a story about a man who had his mobility ‘restored’ after a bite from a brown recluse spider. The report ran on the major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) plus [...]
The Sudanese President is a coward.

I normally don’t get into name-calling as such, but it is quite clear that Omar al-Bashir, President of Sudan, is a lying coward. He was bragging quite a bit, talking about how the ICC can’t touch him, blah blah.
So, for his first big international visit after making such ‘untouchable’ claims, he chooses Eritrea, a country [...]

It’s been surfacing over the past few days, that Israeli IDF troops are wearing offensive t-shirts depicting the intentional murder of Palestinian children and pregnant women, as well as destruction of Mosques and women weeping over graves. The IDF claims these do not reflect the policies or doctrines of the IDF, and that troops found [...]
Crooked Republican ‘movie’ tactics?

There is an issue presently working it’s way through the U.S. Supreme Court. That issue is whether a bunch of Republicans and Clinton critics can bend or break the rules during an election by making an obvious campaign advertisement to appear like a movie. This distinction would avoid the McCain-Feingold law, requiring there to be [...]
Telemarketers and con artists invoking “bailout” language.

I just got a call, from 240-556-9955 “HOMEHELPLINE”, obvious telemarketer. Left a message, low male middle-aged voice trying to say it’s part of the ‘bailout’ program. A google search reveals this number routinely calls people without leaving a message, so I can consider myself lucky, I guess. My search also revealed that this number is [...]
It’s official: Julia Roberts should retire.
Posted in Pop Culture, TV & Film, news, rant, tagged Duplicity, Julia Roberts on March 20, 2009 | 2 Comments »
I’ll admit, I’ve never much liked Julia Roberts as an actress. She smiles overmuch, and pretty much always seems to be playing the same character, regardless of the script. My favorite film of hers’ is Mary Reilly, which was in my opinion a wonderful role for her. She couldn’t smile, and she wasn’t given enough [...]
University of Tulsa faculty destroy spider to hide evidence of incompetence.

The University of Tulsa’s animal facilities manager would have liked everyone to believe he identified a spider found in a Tulsa grocery store was a deadly Brazilian wandering spider. This spider is one of the world’s most dangerous, and they’re even in the 2007 Guinness Book for world’s deadliest spider. Terry Childs identified the spider, [...]
