I get literally *TONS* of spam, unsolicited calls, e-mails, mail-in offers, from these carriers every week. It’s recently been reported that Dish Network has violated the terms of the nationwide DNC list. We opt-out, we say no, they still contact us.
But, I’m going to do something rare. I’m going to tell these carriers how they can get my business.
Ok, are you ready? Put MY shows on YOUR networks. Don’t promise me incredibly low prices, or lucrative package deals if I act now. Don’t promise me thousands of channels. I don’t care. All I want, is to watch MY shows. Can you give me this?
Case in point, Moonlight was cancelled from CBS. There has been talk that it might get picked up be other networks, or possibly Satellite TV. I love this show. I would watch it, if it went to another carrier. So would MANY other people. Sure, you’d have to pay a bit of $$ to get it, but don’t you already pay a fair amount when the government fines you for harassing potential customers? Don’t you pay a fair amount to these telemarketing companies to harass potential customers on your behalf? Don’t these mailings, e-mailings, and advertisements all over the newspaper, TV, radio.. don’t they cost a lot of money?
Give us consumers something we want, not something you feel like offering us. There have been many shows that developed a steady following, which were cancelled by their respective networks. Offering these shows a home on your channels, would go a long way towards earning subscribers to your networks, instead of having to trick them with lies, and dodgy discount packages if they sign up now.
And, yes, carrying Moonlight would be an outstanding gesture on your part, and it would make me switch to satellite this year, this isn’t just about one show. This is about us paying for service, and you short-changing us on said service. Think about it.. If you offered actual service, and brought shows people already love, your work would be easier, and your subscription rates would certainly improve considerably.
So, carry Moonlight, carry Wanted, carry all these dramatic, romantic, moving, entertaining shows that viewers love, when no one else will. Bend over backwards for us, instead of us having to do the same for you, with no end in sight.
